到香港求学有着与众不同的优势。香港是一座国际化的大都市，也是亚洲金融经济中心，它拥有优越的地理位置和非常发达的经济。在这样一个环境中学习，自然会有许多的机会，同时给你新的信息，新的思想。香港的回归使得香港与内地走得越来越近，各个方的合作和交流都很紧密。从十年前推广普通话开始，香港的公共场合播音都已经同时使用粤语、英语和普通话。多数的服务业已经广泛推广普通话。
香港在内地招生的学校一共八所，香港中文大学，香港科技大学，香港理工大学，香港城市大学，香港岭南大学，香港浸会大学，香港教育学院。其中新闻、传媒、酒店管理、机械、电子、生物制药等专业有很高的水准，在国际上也有一定的知名度。香港的大学基本采用全英文教学，使得香港高等教育达到国际水平。根据英国泰晤士报2007 年公布的世界大学最新排名，香港大学名列第33 位，香港中文大学为第50 位，香港科技大学排58 位，香港城市大学154 位，而其他几所香港高校也有着不错的软硬件条件。与申请去欧美国家留学相比，赴港求学的各项手续都更为方便，只要有香港地区大学录取通知书就可以办理赴港通行证。同时，如果没有获得奖学金，只需要提供10 万元人民币左右的存款证明就可以赴港就读。对于一般家庭来说，无疑有很大的吸引力。此外，方便父母探望也成为其优势之一。香港的硕士课程学制短、国际化程度高，一般只需一年至一年半就可以拿到硕士学位，语言要求相对欧美国家要低，如香港科技大学、香港中文大学等高校部分专业允许申请人凭CET-6 成绩申请，无需提供雅思或托福成绩，且年度费用在15 万元人民币左右。由于研究式研究生是由香港政府进行资助的，奖学金很丰厚，大概为每月港币12000余元，但名额有限且每年的人数相对比较固定；而授课式是自负盈亏的，学生没有奖学金，名额的浮动性也会大一些。
申请香港的大学与申请美国大学的程序大致相同，但也有一些不同之处。一般来说，需要准备的材料有个人陈述、推荐信、简历、英文水平证明，并提交网上申请，网上申请的费用一般为200 港币左右，相对于美国的高校就较为低了。除此之外，与申请美国高校不同，香港高校对于英文水平的要求稍有差别，专业上不少项目要求申请者提供一份研究计划(research proposal)。英文水平证明：一般应具有托福成绩(TOEFL，至少在80 分左右)，部分学校接受复印件。
此外，部分大学认可和接受雅思成绩(IELTS，基本要求为6.5 分)或内地的大学英语六级证书(CET6 一般得490 分以上)。有些高校对于GRE 和GMAT 也有要求，可以到具体项目的网页上查看。
