　　最近在美国有一部很搞笑的电影，叫 American Pie. 它主要讲的就是四个高中男生希望在他们毕业舞会前失去他们童贞的故事， 可以从中学到很多美国的口语，训练自己的听力。这周我就帮大家整理一些我从这部电影里面学到的句子吧！
　　1. How does the third base feel like?
　　三垒的感觉如何？
　　原 来在美国它们也使用“棒球术语” 来形容男女关系之间的进展 。这是本片的主要笑料之一， 一个男生问另一个男生 How does the third base feel like?，他就回答，“It feels like warm apple pie.” 呵 有意思吧 要是在台湾，可能有人会说，It feels like 肉圆。 所以这部电影也许不要翻成 “美国派” 而翻成 “台湾肉圆” 会来得更有趣吧！
　　2. You don’t have any chance to score on me.
　　你没有机会跟我有任何进展。
　　这个也是棒球术语的一部份，score on me 意谓着得分，凡是男女朋友的关系有任何进展 （多半是身体上的进展） 就称之为 score，比方说男生出去约会回来，他的好友可能就会好奇地问，“Did you score?”
　　3. Where is your date?
　　你的伴到哪里去了？
　　Date 除了指约会这件事之外，还可以指你约会的对象。这也是我听电影中的对话，回来查字典才发现的。
　　4. We were doing wild things all night.
　　我们一整晚都在作很野的事情。
　　Wild things 在这里指什麽我想大家都知道。片中有一个男生，很喜欢跟人家吹牛说他如何如何厉害。结果到头来他所说的 wild things 居然指的只是 deep conversation。结果好笑的是别人听不懂，还反问一句，Deep conversation? That’s how you call it? （她以为 deep conversation 另有所指，其实就单纯是很深入的谈话）。
　　5. Where is the senior prom going to be?
　　毕业舞会在哪里举行？
　　美 国的高中或大学都会举办很正式的舞会，其主要的目的在於让你学习社交礼仪， 所以通常穿着仪态都要非常讲究。像这样的舞会就叫 prom。而高中或是大学的最後一年叫 senior year，所以 senior prom 就是我们说的毕业舞会。American pie 这部电影就是以 senior prom 作为背景的。
　　6. If he got a dick，he is a guy.
　　如果他有老二的话，他就是男的。
　　Dick 是男生小弟弟的另一称呼，就像我们中文里对这个字也有很多的“昵称” 是一样的。这个字比另一个 p 开头的医学名词用的来的多，p 开头的那个字听来实在不雅，所以在日常的对话中比较少听到。
　　7. You have to press her button in her heart.
　　你必须要触动她的心弦。
　　这 句话讲的很好。片中有个男生问一个女生要如何让她女朋友感动，那个女孩就回答他， You have to press her button in her heart. 这就好比是每个女孩心中都有那麽一个按钮，你必须找到那个钮， 按下去你才会成功。这个跟我个人体会是很接近的。
　　8. Shame on you.
　　你真是可耻。
　　要 是你正在换衣服，突然有个男生跑进来，你要怎麽说呢？ 就是这句啦 Shame on you. 你真可耻。不过电影中的情节在说完这句之後有戏剧化的转变， 那个女生又接着说，You’ve seen mine，now I want to see yours. Strip. 哈 真有意思。（Strip 就是叫那个男生脱衣服啦 ） 当然二个人脱光了之後会发生什麽趣事，就请各位自己去看了。
　　9. I am a virgin，I want to lose my virginity tonight.
　　我还是处男，我想在今晚失去童贞。
　　Virgin 一般的感觉上单指处女，但我看电影里男生也这麽说，所以这个字也可以当作处男解 。後面的那句也蛮好的，lose one’s virginity. 大家没事不要乱用啊
　　10. This is the consolation prize.
　　这是安慰奖。
　　片中有一个男生一直没有找到伴，好不容易凑合到一个，那个女孩就对他说， This is the consolation prize. 这跟中文里的安慰奖也是有异曲同工之妙。

    I second (third?) the tea tree oil in the mop water. We’ve had sugar ants entering our kitchen seasonally for two years now. My husband dutifully goes around the house spraying some chemical that lasts maybe til it rains, if that. I kept saying we should research green alternatives on line but we just had a baby and seemed to be researching so many things, so it fell to the bottom of the priority list. (it shouldn’t have though!). One day I got fed up and sprayed the appeared points of entry with our kitchen cleaner that’s primarily tea tree oil. They stopped coming in there. This season we had the worst case, finding them all over the down stairs. I brought my sons diaper pail in the kitchen one day, which is scented with tea tree oil. I noticed no ants! I then put a few drops in my wash pail when I mopped the floor. That was two weeks ago and I haven’t seen a single ant since. I also found a infestation under our water hose reel which I sprayed with the organic kitchen cleaner (figured it was better than telling my husband since I’m pretty over the chemicals!) So here-here to the green option of tea tree to ward off ants!
